Service to Sisterhoods and Districts at WRJ

“Let all who work with the congregation do so for the sake of Heaven; the merit of their ancestors will sustain them and, as a result, the righteousness will remain forever.”
-Pirke Avot 2:2

For nearly a century, WRJ has provided affiliated women’s groups/sisterhoods with information and resource materials covering all aspects of leadership and membership. Over the years, the look and style of our materials have changed, but the topics addressed have remained fairly constant: membership campaign strategies, leadership skills, social justice issues, spirituality, and worship.

  • WRJ sisterhoods have access to the WRJ Speakers Bureau, are able to brainstorm and network with other sisterhood leadership around North America through the WRJ listserv; and are provided one-on-one support from a WRJ staff professional.

  • Our bi-annual Sisterhood Leadership Conference provides an opportunity for WRJ members around North America to experience, as one participant said, “...a spirit present that you don't often feel elsewhere, other than in the community of WRJ women.”

  • The WRJ assembly brings women from around the world to learn about our local, North American, and international Reform Jewish communities, develop leadership skills, worship, make new friends, hear world-renowned speakers (who in the past have included Rabbi Uri Regev, Rabbi David Ellenson, Rabbi David Saperstein, Anita Diamant, Al Vorspan, Alice Shalvi, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Rev. Barry Lynn, Rabbi Janet Marder, Kate Michelman, Rabbi Harold Kushner, Rabbi Larry Kushner, Letty Cottin Pogrebin, Madelaine Albright, Ambassador Dennis Ross, and Rabbi Eric Yoffie) and, perhaps most importantly, experience the unique bond of sisterhood.

  Add your support.
We are stronger together.
