Born and raised in California and never left, Deb has been married for 36 years and raised two wonderful, accomplished daughters. She volunteered with numerous organizations over the years, including but not limited to WRJ, NCJW, her synagogue and woman’s group boards, a local refugee coalition, and Friends of the Library.

How did you wind up on WRJ’s Board?

I was invited to a reception with (now) Executive Director Emerita Rabbi Marla J. Feldman at the Pacific District Convention in 2018 and was encouraged to apply to WRJ’s North American Board.

For some of us, going anyplace together is the driving force – the camaraderie, the joy of being and experiencing together has been missing in our lives. Others are most looking forward to a chance to dive more deeply into the civil rights history of the United States. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel famously likened marching in Selma, Alabama, to praying with his feet. We all want to learn with our feet, our hearts, and our prayers by taking this journey together.
